Another week passes… somewhat less eventfully as we approach the holidays.
Attending the final showcase for the Jisc Analytics Labs teams. I’m really proud of the work the teams put into their dashboards – hopefully we’ll see some of them available from HESA in the coming year. The “Brexit Risk Mitigation” dashboard is going to be especially timely for a lot of universities! I also spent the previous day helping my two teams get everything completed – recording screencasts of each dashboard and how it works, last minute data processing, moving completed workflows into place. Hopefully we’ll get the green light to work with more teams in the next academic year.
Studying Machine Learning with a Coursera course from Stanford. Mostly I’ve been working on support vector machines.
Discussing some potential new work with our clients.
Writing a proposal for the OECD for our help in open-sourcing their statistical software.
Preparing our camping gear for the Blue Dot festival; we’re travelling there later today.
Harvesting potatoes, lettuces and peas.
In case you don’t know me, I’m a consultant and partner in Cetis LLP, specialising in BI/analytics, open source software, and technology discovery and pre-procurement. Always interested in new clients, so feel free to get in touch.
